Taijiquan - or "Supreme Ultimate fist" – is based on Taoist philosophy. Its creation is attributed to the Taoist monk Zhang Sanfeng over 1000 years ago. This soft internal martial art is still practiced by millions of people around the world today.
Utilised firstly as a martial art it is most widely known in the western world as the health exercise Tai Chi. The health benefits are due to its core principles of posture and body alignment, corrective breathing, and visualisation. These combine in a fluid moving form of meditation that promotes an agile body, a clear mind and a vital spirit.
These principles are the foundation of all styles, be it Wudang, Chen, Yang, Wu, Hao, Sun, or National. Greenchi offers training in National, Yang and Sun Taijiquan.
